Leslie and I had a trial a while back and she was surprised with what I could do with short hair: create an updo. Months later, her hair grew quite a bit, but it was definitely workable. If anything, the longer length enabled me to create an even more elaborate hair design. It was great pleasure knowing Leslie and meeting her bridal party and photographers! All the makeup and hair turned out amazing and I just can't wait to see the beautiful pictures taken by the photographers!!

Below are pictures of her hairstyle. I didn't put up the picture of her makeup because I took bad ones and thought it did no justice to how it looked in person (and probably on a better camera), so I'll just wait for the professional pictures to show you how beautiful she looked!

Her mom made her birdcage veil, and we all thought it looked beautiful. Who knew all you needed was a pretty sparkly pin and some veil material? Lovely and inspirational.

I was referred to Tina by a friend of hers, who had me as her wedding hair and makeup artist. It was a pleasure meeting Tina! She even offered me to stay and watch the Superbowl game, but I had to sadly decline the offer because I had other plans at home. Nonetheless, I'm thankful for the Lindt truffle she gave me to snack on after my tummy started growling (my favorite chocolate!!). Thanks Tina! :)

Tina usually doesn't wear any makeup at all, and the one time she did was at her sister's wedding. We went with a "natural" look. For her hair, I did a slightly half up half down style with lots of curls coming around, and a few strands framing the sides of the face. Sorry for the different lighting in the photos!

Trial: Jennifer

Jennifer usually doesn't wear any makeup and requested for a "natural" look for her wedding day, but with some emphasis on the eyes. For our first makeup look, we tried more brownish colors for Jennifer's eyes, and rosier pink for her lips. For the second makeup look, we added more pink to her eyes, and more neutral for her lips. For her hair, we went with a pretty, romantic updo and added the flower fascinator that Jennifer had purchased as the finishing touch. Overall, she was very happy with the look. Looking forward to April! :)

This is Nhu's Mom (I did makeup and hair for Nhu's engagement shoot!). I can't believe she's the Mom to the bride! She looks very young for her age, and a lot of people meeting her for the first time thought so too. She said that being petite in size is an advantage because sometimes you'll look younger than you really are as you grow older. She said I'll be the same when I'm her age, I sure hope so! Below are pictures from the day of her daughter's wedding, I did her makeup and hair. Her tattooed eyebrows faded to a reddish color and she wanted to cover them up. After covering up her red eyebrows, we couldn't even see them anymore. Her brows and the rest of the makeup looked great!

Nhu is having her engagement photoshoot today. Her dress was beautiful. It was almost like a mixture of an ao dai and Kate Middleton's bridal gown. She wanted a loose, soft updo, and I came up with the messy bun that I learned in class! Then we added the feather fascinator to her hair. I'll be doing her mom and bridesmaids' makeup and hair next week for her wedding day! Looking forward to it. :)

Mo Trinh is marrying my boyfriend's uncle. We had a trial, but on the day-of, she asked for a few changes, and so the look we had between the trial and wedding were quite different. In the end, she looked beautiful! I did her makeup, hair, and also her feather fascinator attached to the birdcage veil as her headpiece.

Below is a scanned image of the instant photo we received from that night. I hope to see more beautiful professional images from the photographer who captured precious moments from the wedding!

I also changed her hairstyle to something a little different when she changed into different outfits. We planned to let the hair down at first, but it would take too long to recurl her hair, after switching back and forth on several other different styles, we settled down with another updo that'll provide a romantic-feel with the addition of white roses (that she told me to take from her cake!).

Jurie is the matron of honor for one of her close friend's wedding today. I had the pleasure of meeting her and her adorable 4-year-old! Jurie wanted the smokey eye look (we used airbrush for her foundation), with the intensity similar to that of Kim Kardashian's, with an updo. She had bangs that she wanted up and out of the way, so I tried pinning it up, since the bangs were short (their length reaches above her eyes when let down), I couldn't give it a lot of volume, but did with what I could do. Today is beautiful bride Jennifer's wedding day. I had the pleasure of doing her makeup, as well as her bridesmaids' (the pictures below are missing one bridesmaid because I forgot to take her after picture :(). I brought my assistant Billie to do the bridesmaids' hair. Everything turned out great!

Note: Jennifer's hair was done by her friend.

For Jennifer's makeup, I used warm plummy colors to compliment her pretty eyes and airbrushed her foundation on. For the bridal party, most of them wanted bold, smokey eyes, no airbrush.

Kristina is my sister's friend, and I'm sooo glad to have met her! When I met her for the first time, it was just very comfortable talking casually with her like she's a long-time friend. :) We talked about a lot of funny things... from our school lives to our families. She was very nice and friendly the whole entire process, it was just so easy for me to talk with her :) She wanted her hair up and had bought some flowers from Michaels to put in her hair. I snipped off the branches I wanted and placed them in different places. For her makeup, she usually doesn't wear a lot of makeup, but wasn't afraid of wearing bolder colors and false lashes! I used pretty beiges and browns on her lid then for the bottom I lined it with teal eye shadow, which gave her whole makeup look a pretty pop of color to match with her dress! She was very happy with the look :)

I've had the pleasure of doing a makeup trial for Binh this past weekend! Binh is such a sweet person. She had a makeup trial with someone else but was unhappy with the results, since they did not have much experience in working with Asian eyes.

Our first trial, the makeup was a bit too dark for her (see below) so I offered to do a second trial. I wanted her to know that I think it's not too dark (we have to consider harsh lighting conditions), but of course, client satisfaction is my number one concern, I only wanted her to be happy with the look that she'll be wearing for many hours during her special day. She does not wear makeup on a daily basis. She is very happy with the second trial! I didn't take pictures of the second trial. I used browns and beiges for the second trial in place of the darker plums and browns I used at the first trial.

Tip: MAC Brush Cleanser

I wouldn't call this a review post because I haven't really tried any brush cleanser besides the MAC one and Johnson's Baby Shampoo, but I thought this tip might be helpful for some of you MAC brush cleanser users.

Problem: Whenever I use the original bottle, it seems to dispense more product than I would like. I would take the bottle and pour a little bit onto folded paper towel then swirl my brushes into them until clear of color. Sometimes I'll accidentally pour out too much and that spot on the paper towel would just dry up quickly, and that only means I had just wasted a lot of product.

Solution: To minimize this issue, I bought a travel size empty bottle with the spraying applicator (from Target for about $1). All I needed to do was transfer over the product from the original MAC bottle into the new empty bottle, and voila! A new way to use your MAC brush cleanser without wasting a whole lot of product! I like that I have more control with the new bottle, it doesn't spray too crazy, and one pump does not equal to the amount that was coming out when I used the original bottle. Moreover, the new bottle is smaller and compact, making it easier to fit in my kit and just to travel around with, and the cap has been tight and pretty leak-proof so far, not like the original MAC bottle! I read about this tip somewhere and wanted to share with all of you!

Katrina is to attend Andrew Hill High School Senior Prom tonight and I did her makeup. Her dress is black, and so she wanted something with a little bit of gold and black for her eyes.

For Amabeth's wedding, she wanted her eyes to be a little more dramatic than the trial we had (I forgot to take after pics from the trial). So that's what we went. She also wanted her hair down but with a poof on top with her hair pulled back and out of her face. She had pretty pins decorated with sparkly rhinestones that I placed at the back of her poof. I used airbrush makeup on her face. I thought she looked beautiful and glamorous! She was very happy with the makeup and hair too. :)

Kim asked for soft smokey eye look for her makeup. We both really liked how it turned out! I like the highlight at the inner part of her eyes, I think I will do that more often, it really does illuminate the eyes, making them look more pretty! Great makeup look for prom or about any occasion! I also did a little trimming and plucking for her brows, which I don't do often for clients, but Kim was happy with the outcome, and I think it really helped bring out her pretty eyes. :)

For makeup, Linh wanted something natural. I slightly smudged the her eye liner and added subtle color to her cheeks and just gloss for her lips. For her hair, we went with a down hairstyle with waves and some volume on top behind the pretty headband. The theme of the engagement photoshoot isn't too formal, so we went with makeup and hair looks that went with her outfits.

Shamana and her husband got married in India several months ago, now they're having another celebration for family and friends over here. Shamana's hair is curly. I had to blowdry it then smooth it out more with a straightener before I went in to styling her hair. She wanted an updo to the side. For her makeup, we went with a subtle smokey eye paired with pink lips.

"A Bundle of Surprise. On Thursday night I contacted Tammy for a last minute booking for a Sunday hair and makeup session. She gave me a prompt response. She requested a photo of myself w/my own makeup so she could study prior to the actual day. I love how she was so engaged! What a surprise she is an adorable and attractive young woman. Super sweet too. She took her time to emphasize my eyes. I loved the outcome. It was natural yet very eye catchy. On my hair she did it half up w/a small bee hive. I loved the hair and actually attended a friend's engagement party prior to the photoshoot sesion. Afterwards, we did the photoshoot w/my photographer. I ended up letting all my hair down for the photoshoot. Although, it was hours after my hair and makeup still stayed. Linda was such a sweet person! I am very glad to have met her :) She and Tri are animal lovers, and I think it's so cute!! They have poms and guinea pigs! I did makeup and hair for Linda. She said it's up to me how I want to do the makeup. I thought of accentuating her pretty, big eyes, she wanted some lashes, gave her blushing cheeks and lips. For her hair she wanted some volume and curls. I gave her half up half down and kept the poof very soft in the back. Doesn't she look like a doll? :) Linda said that she really loved the makeup and hair, and I'm so excited to see how everything turned out.

Linda kept this half up half down for the engagement party that they attended first, then after for the photoshoot, she decided to let more of her hair down. See below for pictures from her aunt, the photographer. :)

This is actually my first time doing something a little different with makeup: special effects. Hope you likey. :)

I didn't get to stop by the store to get some fake blood, so what you see in the picture is really my red and black lip tars from OCC makeup. Hehe. The bullet wound above my right eye was made with the lip tars as well and some shading around it with eyeshadow. No prosthetics here, but would really look into it next time for more realistic effects!

Sammie wanted dark smokey eyes but not too over the top. She doesn't usually wear very much makeup. I really liked how it turned out, if I were to change one thing for next time though, I would probably give her a bit more dramatic false lashes :) Later on that day Sammie messaged me on facebook and told me that she really loved the makeup! Yay!

My previous blog (WordPress) wasn't liking me very much and decided to stop cooperating with me. Fortunately this blogspot is here to fix that... out with the old, in with the new!
